Retail Forward KnowledgeBase™

The Global Retailing Program of the Retail Forward Intelligence System™ helps retailers and suppliers stay ahead of the worldwide trends and issues that affect their business at home and abroad.

A mix of reports keep you abreast of the leading global retailers and the countries that represent the best retail opportunities—as well as shopper insights across those companies and countries, leveraging TNS’ worldwide consumer surveys.

The Global Retailing Program also provides searchable online access to content through the Retail Forward KnowledgeBase ™as well as access to report authors for more insight and background. This content represents a series of eight Strategic Focus reports plus the annual Global Retail Outlook, that focus on companies, countries, issues or shopper insights depending on the report.  In 2008, the shopper insights reports will assess the appeal of various technology innovations to shoppers across countries.

Global Retailing Program Content

In addition to access to the Retail Forward KnowledgeBase™, a Global Retailing Program membership includes enterprise-wide access to all content described below.
  • The Global Retailing Program includes country-focused reports on key emerging markets such as Spain, India, China, Mexico, and Russia.  These reports identify the leading domestic retailers, size the retail market and incorporate shopper insights—all in the context of the latest retail developments in that market.  Spain and India were published in 2007.
  • Company Reports examine company performance with a focus on overall performance and breakouts by key country markets and key formats/banners.  Reports also evaluate the company’s strategic management initiatives and the impact those moves will have on competitors and suppliers going forward.  Global retailers recently profiled include Carrefour and Tesco.
  • Global Shopper Insights Reports leverage TNS global shopper data to compare shopping behavior across several countries including Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.
  • Global Issues Reports address the topical global retail industry issues of the day across countries.
  • The Global Retail Outlook provides a valuable resource for overcoming the challenge of sizing and evaluating prospects in very different markets across the world.  This annual report forecasts retail sales by country and puts them in perspective with a unique index and map that weighs different risks, price trends and demand trends.
  • Top Global Retailers Report slices and dices all you need to know about the top global retailers.  The database that drives the list includes data as sales, growth rates, store counts, primary line of trade, countries where they operate and more.  The analysis points out the changes and trends developing from year-to-year.
  • The Retail Update.  Authored by TNS Retail Forward's team of consultants and economists, this monthly publication is designed to be a "quick read“. Reports include analysis and insight on significant economic issues and developments impacting the retail outlook; and compilation, summary, and assessment of retailer performance and retail sales from the previous month.
  • Strategic Outlook Conference.  Each year, TNS Retail Forward consultants present a day-long conference on the outlook for retailing and consumer goods marketing and distribution.  A current assessment of economic developments, significant consumer trends, supply chain innovations, and key competitive developments across all sales and marketing channels are provided, along with perspectives on emerging trends, critical issues and best practices from around the world.  Membership includes 10 conference seats.
  • Webinars.  Monthly Webinars are designed to take you beyond the pages of our reports and provide you with a unique opportunity to connect directly with report authors and other "subject matter experts”.  Topics presented include Retailing 2015; Retailing in India and China, and the Holiday Outlook for Retail, among others.

A Global Retailing Program corporate membership includes electronic access to all program content described above for an unlimited number of client staff via the TNS Retail Forward Web Site (www.retailforward.com »). Program members also receive three printed copies of all reports described above and up to an additional five copies may be delivered directly to the senior management team.
